Annapurna Circuit Trek, Nepal

The Annapurna Circuit trek is a beautiful hike in the Annapurna region in Nepal. The hike is about 200 km long and takes about 2 weeks to complete. Starting from Besisahar at about 750m above sea level, the route gradually increases along the Marsyangdi valley to cross the highest point, the Thorong La pass, at 5416m above sea level. After the crossing the pass, the route descends along the Kali Gandaki valley to Tatopani. Although the route itself is not overly though, the altitude makes it rather hard.

I followed the route below for about 150 km until Marpha. At that point most people we had met along the route had already stopped their ACT and had taken a bus to Pokhara. This is because the route from Marpha on is not very interesting: it follows the road and is not scenic, at least not after the beautiful scenery we had seen before.
